A Mad Dinner 3.0 with Simran Savlani Comes to Relish with a Daring New Menu on May 13th

Cookbook author Simran Savlani has teamed up with Relish for her pop-up dining series, A Mad Dinner, as it returns for its third installment with a brand new nine-course menu that dares to spark your palette.  The one-night-only food adventure will this time take place at Relish’s Wong Chuk Hang venue on the 13th of May, 2022

The new line-up of dishes, in keeping with Savlani’s culinary passions, will take you on a flavour journey all around Asia that will make you forget that this dinner is in fact all vegetarian.  Each course uses a different vegetable ingredient and aims to showcase its unique flavour and possibilities.  Served family-style for your party, A Mad Dinner 3.0 hopes to celebrate shared dining experiences as well as the excitement and memories they can create.

Just as before when housed at HATCH and Test Kitchen, every plate (or bowl!) in A Mad Dinner 3.0 comes straight from Savlani’s cookbook, A Spark of Madness, with each course corresponding to a section of the book. 

To round out the event, an after-party at the Relish rooftop with live entertainment will be sure to make it a night to remember.

Relish has hosted numerous pop-up dining events in the past year as a way to bring exciting novelty experiences to the people in Hong Kong while travel restrictions are still in play. “In 2021 we started a series of monthly pop-ups at Relish where we hosted fantastic chefs or concepts that I really loved.  These were in line with the creativity we have as an event company and most importantly the quality of food showcased,” says Abby Cadman, the owner and director of Relish.  “When Simran had a chat with me about her idea, I immediately loved it and thought Relish would be the perfect location for this. She’s so creative and has a real passion for what she does.”

Tickets for A Mad Dinner 3.0 are available on the Relish website for $750 per person which includes the dinner and a welcome drink.  Additional drinks are available for purchase on the day.  Limited number of tickets available.

Relish Background

Founded in 2005, Relish began as a modern catering company focused on fresh, seasonal produce influenced by cuisines all around the world.  Since then, we have evolved into a “concept to completion” events and catering company that specialises in decor, production, and event planning with exceptional food at its core.

Simran Savlani Bio

Simran Savlani is not your typically trained chef, nor is she a food writer. Funnily enough, she is notorious for not following recipes, yet the kitchen is her canvas.  Her cookbook, A Spark of Madness, is full of recipes developed through years of following her passion. 

A Restaurant Management graduate from Le Cordon Bleu Paris, Simran is adept at melding cuisines, flavours, and ingredients, and has launched restaurants across Asia and even Africa. When whipping up a dish, her aim is to make it three-dimensional, bringing together elements of sugar, spice and salt to give you the perfect bite.  You can always find her smiling whilst digging into a bowl of noodles at your neighbourhood dai pai dong.

She has also developed three Asian-inspired Spark Sauces: Crispy Chili Oil, Caramelized Spring Onion, and Crack Sauce - all vegan and handmade in Hong Kong.
